Call 346-222-4481Your Insurance Company Has a Team of Experts Working Against You
You should have one working for you.
When you file a water damage, fire damage, or mold remediation claim with your homeowner's insurance in Texas, you are entering a negotiation — whether you know it or not. The adjuster who visits your property works for the insurance company. The estimate software they use is calibrated to minimize payouts. The exclusion language in your policy is written by insurance attorneys. And when they offer you a settlement, they're offering you what they're comfortable paying — not necessarily what you're owed.
LPR Mitigation Services is the only mitigation and restoration company in Greater Houston that builds a dedicated, in-house insurance claims specialist into every single job we take. Not an outside public adjuster you pay separately. Not a phone number we give you and say "good luck." A member of our team, working your claim alongside your restoration — from first contact to final payment.
We don't take no for an answer. We've built our company around it.
What Our In-House Claims Specialist Does for You
Policy Review
Before we submit a single document, our claims specialist reviews your homeowner's insurance policy. We identify all applicable coverage categories — property damage, contents, additional living expenses, code upgrade requirements — and ensure nothing is left on the table before the negotiation begins.
Professional Damage Documentation
The quality of your claim documentation determines the quality of your settlement. We produce:
- Comprehensive photographic documentation of all visible and hidden damage
- Thermal imaging reports showing moisture behind surfaces
- Professional moisture meter readings mapped room-by-room
- Itemized scope of work in the line-item format insurance adjusters require
- Xactimate-compatible estimates (the industry-standard platform insurers use)
Inadequate documentation is the single most common reason legitimate claims are underpaid in Houston. We eliminate that problem entirely.
Direct Adjuster Communication
We communicate directly with your insurance adjuster — so you don't have to. We understand insurance industry language, we know the documentation standards adjusters apply, and we know the specific arguments they use to reduce payouts. We counter those arguments professionally, persistently, and with evidence.
Scope Disputes & Supplements
When an adjuster's scope misses damaged items, undervalues materials, or excludes areas that clearly belong in the claim, we file a Supplement. This is a formal addition to the original claim — with documentation — that forces the insurer to address the omissions. Many homeowners don't know Supplements exist. Our team uses them routinely.
Claim Denial Appeals
If your claim is denied, the denial is rarely the final word. Insurance companies deny claims knowing that most homeowners won't appeal. Our specialist reviews denial letters, identifies the stated grounds, and builds an appeal with supporting documentation, industry standards references, and policy language analysis. We win a significant number of appeals that homeowners were told they couldn't win.
Subrogation Guidance
If your damage was caused by a third party — a neighbor's burst pipe, a contractor's error, a faulty product — subrogation rights may allow your insurer to recover costs from the responsible party. We help identify subrogation opportunities and connect you with the right resources.
The Insurance Tactics We Fight Every Day
This is what Houston insurance companies do — and what we counter:
Tactic: Low Initial Estimate
Adjusters submit estimates deliberately lower than the true cost of restoration, counting on homeowners to accept the first offer. We submit a counter-scope with documentation and hold the line.
Tactic: Depreciation Abuse
Insurers apply depreciation to reduce actual cash value payments. For older homes and components, depreciation can slash a payment by 30-50%. We challenge improper depreciation calculations and pursue recoverable depreciation when your policy allows.
Tactic: Pre-Existing Damage Arguments
Adjusters claim that damage existed before the covered event, shifting the burden back to the homeowner. We document the timeline, use moisture mapping to prove damage correlation, and counter these arguments with professional evidence.
Tactic: Excluding Mold Even When Caused by a Covered Loss
Mold that results from a covered water damage event should be covered by the same policy. Insurers routinely try to split these claims and exclude the mold remediation. We keep the scope unified and fight the exclusion.
Tactic: Delaying Until Homeowners Give Up
Long delays, unreturned calls, and rolling "still under review" responses are used to pressure homeowners into accepting less or dropping claims entirely. We track your claim timeline and escalate when deadlines are missed.
Tactic: Denying Business Interruption or ALE Claims
Additional Living Expenses (ALE) — temporary housing costs while your home is restored — are coverage many homeowners don't know they have. Fire, extensive water damage, and mold can all qualify your family for ALE. We identify and pursue this coverage from the first day.
Types of Claims We Handle
- Water damage from burst pipes, appliance failures, and AC leaks
- Storm and hurricane damage claims
- Fire and smoke damage claims
- Mold remediation claims (especially following covered water events)
- Roof damage and resulting interior water damage
- Sewage backup claims
- Freeze damage claims (burst pipes, structural damage)
What Happens If My Claim Is Already Denied?
A denial letter from your insurance company is not the end of the road. Call us.
We review:
- The denial letter and stated grounds for denial
- Your full policy language and exclusions
- The adjuster's inspection scope and documentation
- Any photos or reports submitted during the initial claim
In many cases, denials are based on insufficient documentation, misapplication of policy exclusions, or pressure tactics — not legitimate grounds. With proper advocacy and re-documentation, denied claims are frequently reversed or significantly upgraded.
The important thing: don't sign anything with your insurer without talking to us first. Settlement agreements and releases are often final, and signing prematurely can eliminate your ability to recover additional compensation.
Do I Need a Public Adjuster?
Public adjusters are independent professionals who negotiate insurance claims on your behalf for a percentage of your settlement — typically 10-15%. They can be valuable in complex claims.
At LPR, our in-house claims specialist is different: they're part of your restoration team, not a separate contractor with a fee. Our advocacy is integrated into the restoration service — you get insurance expertise without paying a separate percentage of your settlement.
In very complex cases involving very large losses, we may recommend working alongside a public adjuster. We can make that recommendation and referral when it's genuinely in your best interest.
